Selecting the
Best Version for Your Application
Welcome to the Motion Commander family of operator interface products for motion control.
32-bit Motion Commander III for Windows 9x/ME/NT4/2K
This is the only version
of Motion Commander that communicates with the PMAC over the PC-bus under
Windows NT/2K and also over USB. It is also the only version that can
communicate with a PMAC at the same time as the Delta Tau Executive program
PEWIN32. Additional features exclusive to Motion Commander III include twice as
many instrument panels (32 panels) and true-color wallpaper and icons (refer to
the Motion Commander III Release Notes for details).
16-bit Motion Commander II for Windows 9x/ME and Windows 3.1
The 16-bit Motion
Commander II has some very powerful features not yet ported over to 32-bit
Motion Commander III. These include general-purpose reads and writes to PC
ports and physical memory, and Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE).
16-bit Motion Commander II for DOS
Motion Commander
II for DOS runs great on a 286 or better DOS PC with 640KB of RAM, 1MB of hard
disk space, and 16-color EGA or VGA graphics. For dedicated operator interface
PC’s, Motion Commander II for DOS is the fastest, most robust, and most secure
version because it does not have the overhead of Windows.
The 32-bit Motion Commander III and the 16-bit Motion Commander II are fully cross-compatible, with the exception of the few features not ported over at this time. Instrument panels created by one version of Motion Commander can be run by the other version and vice-versa (MCS, MCP, and MCG files). The Motion Commander III hardware security key is different than the 16-bit Motion Commander II key, however.
